Testimonials and project notes from service business owners who worked with Magnolia Way Advisory on growth planning.
What clients say
We had been debating a second shampoo station for eight months. The review showed our Saturday colour blocks were the real constraint, not wash capacity. We restructured the menu board instead and delayed the equipment purchase.

David understood clinic scheduling in a way our accountant did not. The quarterly calls keep us honest about hiring — last quarter we postponed a full-time hire and redistributed hours instead.

The workshop was intense. My two senior aestheticians disagreed on buffer times and we ran twenty minutes over. Still, we finally have one rulebook for how long each facial type gets.

I appreciated that they did not push a franchise model on us. The plan focused on filling weekday mornings, which had been empty since we moved locations in Banqiao.

Extended story: Formosa Hair Studio
From weekend chaos to a calmer Saturday roster
Client: Formosa Hair Studio, Da’an District, Taipei — six stylists, walk-ins accepted on Saturdays.
Challenge: Owner Lin Mei-hua was losing two senior stylists who cited burnout from back-to-back colour appointments. Revenue was strong but reviews mentioned long waits.
Engagement: Growth Planning Review, February 2025.
What we did: Analysed 14 weeks of booking data. Colour services averaged 2 hours 40 minutes but were scheduled in 2-hour slots. Walk-ins were capped in theory but not in practice.
Outcome: Lin introduced a Saturday colour cap of four per stylist, extended buffers for bleach services, and moved walk-ins to weekday lunch slots with a small discount. Three months later, stylists reported fewer overtime hours. Revenue dipped 4% in March then recovered by May as repeat clients adjusted booking habits.
Lin’s note: “I would have bought another chair. The data showed the problem was how we stacked appointments, not how many chairs we owned.”
Extended story: Riverside Physio Clinic
Hiring with evidence instead of hope
Client: Riverside Physio Clinic, three practitioners, growing referral base from local gyms.
Challenge: Managing partner James Wu wanted to hire a fourth physiotherapist before the summer injury season. Part-time admin support was also overdue.
Engagement: Quarterly Advisory starting Q3 2024, following an initial Growth Planning Review.
What we did: Tracked utilisation by practitioner and no-show rates by referral source. Modelled revenue at 75%, 85%, and 95% utilisation with and without admin support.
Outcome: James hired a part-time receptionist in October and delayed the fourth physio until January when utilisation crossed the agreed threshold. He credits the admin hire with reducing phone interruptions during sessions.
